About

Kirsten studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, and went on to work in several distinguished practices in London, and in Cape Town. Her time in South Africa inspired an enduring interest in architecture as manipulated landscape, and in the UK, she has gained comprehensive experience working in the education sector.

Prior to founding Shape Terrain Studio Kirsten was an Associate at Walters & Cohen Architects, London, working on a number of high profile projects at all stages of design and delivery.

Kirsten’s passion for landscape-driven architecture grew further while she took a sabbatical to drive a motorbike through India. On her return she completed Boathouse 4; a Heritage Lottery funded College of Boatbuilding, exhibition space and restaurant within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. This project was shortlisted for a RIBA award in 2016.

Kirsten is now based in the Chilterns, from where she runs Shape Terrain Studio and works with KFM Architects. Kirsten is currently training to be a Level 3 Forest School Leader and soon hopes to inspire some young creatives to learn and develop skills in the outdoors.
